Welcome to ‘thoroughbred homeland’. Think names such as Lindsay Park, Swettenham, Darley and Chatswood Studs or the boutique Gilgai Farm, where the mighty mare Black Caviar was born, and find them in the Goulburn River Valley.

With millions of dollars of magnificent thoroughbred to breed, care and train studs are mostly not open to general visitation. Watch out for stallion parades, local events or appointment only arrangements and be one of the lucky ones who get up close and personal with the might of the horse flesh.

Experience the action with a visit to Seymour, Kilmore or Tatura racecourse and take in some of the best country racing in Victoria.  Keep an eye out for picnic races across the region including meetings at courses at Yea and Alexandra.

If harness racing is more your style, visit a Shepparton Harness Racing  meeting at the Kialla Racing Complex or take in one of two weekly greyhound races at the same venue for something a little different.
